Description

Granted for services to Faeyis and her Mistress, the Cloak of the Deathknight is actually a cursed item. It functions as a Cloak of Protection at its core, but it is much more suited to the undead, allowing its wearer to walk in that world to better hunt their target.

Once attuned, the wearer begins to take on several qualities of the undead. They become immune to poison damage and the poisoned condition as well as gaining advantage on any Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma saving throws generated by Undead. They have disadvantage on death saves. If they are killed, they will rise again as a zombie in 1d4 hours unless gentle repose is cast on them. Once they are killed wearing the cloak, only a True Resurrection spell can bring them back. If they are animated into a zombie, only a Wish spell can bring them back.

2/day, the cloak also allows its wearer to substitute their own life force to fuel magic. Whenever they are called to use a spell slot, they can instead roll a number of d6s equal to the spell slot level and reduce their maximum HP by that amount. This reduction lasts until the next long rest.
